BALL IS LIFE

The Power Forward...A Revolutionary position. Matchup problems. Constant pick and rolls...Here is my list of the top 10 at the position:

10: DIRK NOWITZKI: The only jumpshooter 7 feet tall in the history of the NBA. He is the only player on this list whom nobody can guard effectively because of his skill set. What keeps him from being higher on this list is his mediocrity in the playoffs and his apparent inability to be a team leader.

9: SHAWN KEMP: The reignnnn mannn. Shawn Kemp made The Power Forward into a fast position. Before, most if not all power forwards were kept to putbacks and rebounds...Shawn said forget that garbage...He ran the fast break, Dunked over, through, around, and on people. He had the power of Ewing, The quickness of Dominique, and the sheer hatred of the rim that only shaq's free throw can compare. It's too bad he went the Darryl Strawberry route and did Coke and got fat to ruin his career...because he might've been higher on this list.

8: DENNIS RODMAN: the best motor in NBA History. Nobody could outrebound him while he played. Not to be rude to the man but...Do you really think the NBA would have put up with his BS if he WASNT that good? I mean seriously he was getting 20 rebounds a game like it was nothing. To people saying hes a nut like no other...I say, he has 5 NBA titles. I say he is a first ballot HOF.

7: BOB PETTIT: Before Bob Pettit...There was no "POWER FORWARD" position...It was just...Forwards. He averaged 26.4 PPG in the no shot clock era, which is ridiculous considering teams in that era were notorious for once gaining a lead...icing the ball for up to 10 minutes just to keep the lead.

6: ELVIN HAYES: Think of Vinnie Johnson at power forward. This guy can flat out fill up the hoop. He could also rebound the ball and lock down on D. Elvin is probably the most underrated player on this list.

5: KEVIN GARNETT: the big ticket! Kevin plays every play like its the NBA finals, every posession is critical to him. He plays with as much intensity as any of the all time greats. Plus, averaging 22 and 11 over your career definitely helps.

4: KEVIN MCHALE: the best post moves in NBA history outside of Hakeem. Opponents said he had 25 first moves off the pivot and another 25 for each way you react to his first step. He was methodical, effective, and was scary to play against. It's like you were playing Karl Malone...Only white.

3: CHARLES BARKLEY: the round mound of rebound. I AM NOT A ROLE MODEL. At Six foot Five, he dominated people of all sizes. If you were his size, he bulldozed you...If you were taller, hed blow by you...and still bulldoze you. He was 6'5, 300 pounds, quick as lightning with hops out the building. He was a genetic freak.

2: KARL MALONE: does the picture say enough? He was a 6 foot 9 inch tall defensive tackle playing basketball. He had biceps bigger than my head. He had the foot quickness of a SF. He didn't just "get his"...He got his and made sure your bruises reminded you of it the next day. That pick and role with Stockton was unfair.

1: TIM DUNCAN: did you think this list was going to end with somebody ELSE at number one? Nobody can stop him. Nobody can do a thing about what he does. And he does it perfectly. He quietly makes you feel like you can't guard a folding chair. He quietly becomes the MVP of the finals over and over. He is inarguably the best Power Forward of all time because, well...Nobody says anything else. Charles Barkley said "Tim Duncan is the best PF of all time. The list goes Tim Duncan, Me, Karl Malone." We all know Charles has a big mouth...But even he said Tim Duncan for best of all time. Come on now. Game over.

this list was made before the the C's won the championship couple of years ago... Does that change his place on the all-time list or does he still belong at #5?
